The Terrace is Samsung's First Outdoor 4K QLED Television

Samsung Canada has launched its first outdoor television, aptly called the Terrace, which will be available with an accompanying outdoor-friendly soundbar.

The Terrace boasts QLED 4K picture quality and a smart interface for accessing streaming service. And naturally, it is designed to be durable so it can withstand the elements. It comes in 55", 65", and 75" sizes and employs an IP55 rating and weather-resistant frame that can protect it from water and dust. An IP55 rating means the TV can withstand temperatures between -30 to 50℃, and water projected by a nozzle (6.3mm) against enclosure from any direction. It comes fitted for easy installation outdoors across a variety of settings.

"With new lifestyle habits continuing to evolve, Canadians are using screens to work from home, exercise using online platforms, and connect with friends and family," says Pat Bugos, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Home Entertainment, Samsung Canada. "We believe screens should also be evolving in line with these lifestyle changes. As the latest addition to our Lifestyle TV portfolio, The Terrace transcends the connected living room to the outdoors by delivering on incredible innovation and immersive viewing experiences."

The Terrace offers a brightness level of 2,000 nits for watching content even in broad daylight, along with a high motion rate, which is ideal for sports fans who want to watch the game while barbecuing. The display is coated with anti-reflection and adaptive picture technology, which optimizes content by analyzing its surroundings to minimize unwanted glare.

At just 59.8mm thing, the TV comes with the Tizen operating system for powering features like the Samsung TV Plus free linear TV video service with over 120 channels, the Samsung Health fitness and wellness platform, and other popular streaming services.

In addition to supporting mobile viewing capabilities like Multi View and Tap View, the Terrace also supports multiple voice services including Bixby, Amazon Alexa, and the soon to launch Google Assistant.

Complementing the TV is the Terrace Soundbar, which delivers deep and clear bass through its built-in woofers and distortion-cancelling technology. It has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing it to be paired with The Terrace TV and other devices.

The Terrace Soundbar features adaptive sound mode to offer clear, rich sound, regardless of the content being played. Featuring IP 551 level durability as well, The Terrace Soundbar is designed to withstand the elements and it can be mounted to a wall, or directly to The Terrace TV.

The 55" Terrace TV will sell in Canada for $5,000, the 65" for $7,000, and the 75" for $9,000. All three will be available starting in June. The Terrace Soundbar, meanwhile, will start selling in August for $1,200.
