Ring, which has taken the market by storm with the introduction of a wide range of outdoor security cameras, has launched its first indoor-only model, aptly named the Ring Indoor Cam.
The Ring Indoor Cam is being launched alongside the third generation Ring Stick Up Cam, the latter of which comes in three power options: plug-in, battery, and solar.
Employing a compact design, the Ring Indoor Cam can be mounted anywhere in the home and features up to 1,080p HD video resolution, motion zones, night vision, two-way talk, and motion-activated recording. It also includes privacy features that enable you to disable motion and audio recording from the app, and an indicator light that displays whenever the camera is recording. It will sell in Canada later this year for $80, and is available now for pre-order.
The third-generation Ring Stick Up Cam, meanwhile, can be installed indoors or outdoors and comes in three power options: Plug-In ($130), Battery ($130), and Solar ($199). Featuring up to 1,080p HD video, motion detection, night vision, two-way talk, and a wide viewing angle, it is currently available for pre-order, and will start shipping October 23, 2019.
"We're excited to bring customers our most affordable camera yet and provide even more security options with Ring Indoor Cam and the all new Ring Stick Up Cam," says Jamie Siminoff, founder and Chief Inventor of Ring. "As a team of inventors, we are constantly pushing ourselves to identify innovative, cost effective, and easy-to-use security products that make our neighbourhoods safer. With our growing lineup of both indoor and outdoor cams, varying in size and functionality, our customers have choices when determining how best to secure their homes."
With the Ring app, Indoor Cam and Stick Up Cam can be linked to compatible smart home devices from Ring and other leading brands. Both new cameras integrate with Works with Ring devices and are Alexa enabled. Say, "Alexa, show the back yard" to see Live View or "Alexa, answer the living room" to begin speaking with whomever is in the home. You can also see who's there with Indoor Cam, and open doors for friends and family from the Ring app with select smart locks. When Ring Alarm is triggered, set Stick Up Cam to automatically start recording.
Ring Indoor Cam employs a small footprint for easy, DIY installation. Turn off audio recording with the Audio Streaming and Recording Toggle and pause motion-activated video recording with the Record Motion Toggle. A Blue LED light indicates when the device is recording or in Live View. Plug-in power means it's for indoor use only. Customize how the camera operates using three different modes, home, disarmed, away. Modes will be available starting November 2019.
The next-gen Stick Up Cam, meanwhile, also boast flexible, DIY installation, both indoors and outdoors. Weather-resistant, like the Indoor Cam, you can turn off audio recording with the Audio Streaming and Recording Toggle, pause motion-activated video recording with the Record Motion Toggle, and a Blue LED light indicates when the device is recording or in Live View. You can also avoid video recording specific areas with the Privacy Zones feature. Starting November 2019, you can also customize the camera with the same three modes of home, disarmed, and away.
