Totem Acoustic is adding five new products to its audio line-up, including three new products under the KIN line, and two Tribe Solution Bars. New to the line is the KIN Play Mini, KIN Monitor, and KIN AMP, as well as the Tribe Duo Solution Bar and the Tribe Trio Solution Bar.
KIN Play Mini
The plug-and-play compact powered two-way bookshelf Mini speaker (shown above) includes all of the features of the larger KIN PLAY, but in a more compact package. Designed for use with source devices like a computer, gaming console, smartphone, turntable, or other digital or analog audio component, it features both analog and digital inputs, a built-in phono preamplifier, and 70-watt RMS per channel amplifier.
Replacing an integrated amplifier/passive speaker combination, along with the required cables, it includes bass and treble controls, accessible from the included 17-keyy aluminum remote. This allows for customized sound from the listening position, says Totem.
"With KIN Play Mini, we are seeking a younger audience who likely own a portable Bluetooth speaker and recognize its limitations, but can be enticed into a more sophisticated, higher level of performance if it meets a manageable price point," says Lucy Lentini, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Totem. "The size, performance, and cost of KIN Play Mini are aimed at the youngest and largest target market of any Totem speaker, with the goal of grooming these fledgling music lovers into audio connoisseurs who will support our industry for many years to come."
Additional specs include Qualcomm aptX HD Bluetooth; optical input up to 24-bit/192kHz; RCA inputs; 3.5mm mini jack; 4" woofer and customized 1" metal alloy dome tweeter; and magnetic grills. They come in satin black or white finishes and sell for an MSRP of $850.
This compact monitor loudspeaker, which replaces the KIN Mini, is physically larger with a more rigid cabinet and can handle much more power. Providing a "three-dimensional, holographic-like soundstage," says Totem, it has a 1" metal alloy dome tweeter, customized 4" natural hybrid woofer, and powerful and fast bass.
A micro port in each cabinet provides fine-tuning by perfecting bass response and expanding the 3D soundstage. Pair it with the new KIN Amp to leverage this speaker to its fullest potential.
"The KIN Monitor demographic," says Lentini, "has a moderate budget, wants a speaker that easily integrates wherever it must be placed, and will thoroughly infuse Totem performance throughout today's open concept architecture."
It, too, comes in satin black or white for MSRP $699.
This integrated amp is compact and can drive numerous Totem monitor and tower speakers. Equipped with both Bluetooth and Qualcomm aptX HD for streaming, it also has both digital and analog inputs for connecting different sources, from turntables to gaming consoles.
Bass treble controls are included, accessible from the 17-key aluminum remote. It shares many of the same features as the KIN Play powered loudspeakers, but in a modern chassis as an integrated amplifier.
Featuring a Class D output stage, it has been designed with low impedance to yield a high damping factor while allowing it to drive more demanding speaker loads, says Totem, while also being "phase accurate and highly musical at the same time."
It is suitable for use with a variety of loudspeakers, including all Totem Architectural models, the new KIN Monitor and SKYLIGHT, KIN Mini Flex, SKY Tower, Arro, and Tribe Tower, as well as, of course, models from other brands.
Selling for MSRP $699, it comes in black and white high gloss finish options.
Tribe Solution Bars
There are two new Tribe Solution Bars: the Tribe Duo (MSRP $2,000) and the Tribe Trio (MSRP $2,800). Both look like traditional soundbars but their passive design allows for outboard amplifiers to be connected for superior performance.
The Tribe Duo is a two-channel design in a sealed cabinet, while the Tribe Trio is a three-channel LCR in a ported enclosure.
Both are sized to fit beneath screens 65" and larger and boast a low-profile design. They come with a flush mount wall bracket for installing on-wall. If you decide to place either directly on furniture or a mantle, however, they include adhesive backed sound isolation feet as well.
Both come in black or white satin finish with matching magnetic grilles.
