Toronto audiofest, which is gearing up for its second annual event in the city from October 18-20, 2019, is announcing a new venture this year called AudioTeens.
Sponsored by HiFiPro.ca, the AudioTeens initiative will be aimed at bringing in show-goers from the 13-19-year-old "Gen-Z" age group. There will be a special demo room on the 15th floor geared specifically towards this demographic. The initiative will be headed up by Alex, daughter of show organizers Michel Plante and Sarah Tremblay, and Katharine, daughter of XLO Electric's Lily Luo, both of whom have participated in previous shows.
"We are excited and very proud to announce...this new feature of the 2019 Toronto audiofest show, a move we think is a big step forward for our industry," says Plante.
"Most of you," he adds, "have sons, daughters, or grandkids like Alex and Katharine who know how easy it is to attract teenagers' attention on Instagram and Facebook. So, they will be using those platforms to invite hundreds of friends, and friends of their friends, to visit the AudioTeens room where they will see and hear some unique and relatively affordable audio systems that young people can easily relate to, like Kanto active speakers and Music Hall turntables. And while they are there, they will also have the opportunity to visit and experience superb ultra high-end audio systems in 70 more rooms. The Audio Teens will be showing these young people how with better audio they can dramatically improve the experience of listening to, and sharing, their favourite music with friends... instead of the personal audio experience."
Alex and Katharine have already found volunteers to work with them in the AudioTeens demo room, but they are still looking for more Gen Z volunteers to enjoy a fun experience at Toronto audiofest next month. Contact the show organizers at firstname.lastname@example.org if you know a teen who would like to participate, and Alex and/or Katharine will contact them to sign up.
Show hours for volunteers will be Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Teenagers can participate in AudioTeens by joining the AudioTeens group, following the Instagram or Facebook pages, or helping to promote good audio by posting comments about entertainers they've enjoyed listening to or anything else about the music they love to listen to.
