You can now be greeted by the faces of some of your favourite TV series characters and actors when you log on to Netflix with the availability of new profile icons.
Profiles were launched for Netflix back in August 2013, allowing subscribers to set up separate areas in an account where each family member could access his own content, including personalized suggestions, resuming previously-started shows, top picks, and more. When you log in, you'll see a tiny icon with a basic image of a different colour to represent each person, and his name underneath.
Now, adding some fun to the experience, Netflix has added the faces of favourite characters from its original series to the profile icons option. You can use Susan (a.k.a. "Crazy Eyes") from Orange is the New Black as your profile photo, or perhaps Luke Cage.
Netflix Director of Product Innovation Cathy Conk calls it a fun, new way for viewers to "show your fandom and make your connection with Netflix more unique."
It might sound silly, but consider how big a part emojis play in your daily life, and a cute, new Netflix profile photo might just be the pick-me-up you've been craving. It also adds another level of personalization to the experience. You can swap out profile pics to match series you're currently watching, your current mood, or to help get you in the mood for your next binge.
The new profile icons will be rolling out on the Website, mobile, and TV devices over the next few weeks.
