Origin Acoustics has launched its latest line of freestanding subwoofers, aptly named the Deep Subwoofer Collection.
The line consist of four models, include the single driver SUBD8EQ, SUBD10EQ, and SubD12EQ, which feature aluminum drivers paired with precisely-tuned downfiring passive radiators, and are driven by 300, 600, and 1,000 watts of Class D power respectively; and the dual 12" SUBDD12EQ, with two active drivers and 1,200 watts of power.
Onboard DSP allows for a single band of EQ to be parametrically adjusted via a Bluetooth-connected app on a smartphone. Adjustments include crossover frequency, level, and bandwidth. There are four user-adjustable presets to save the EQ curves once they have been finalized. An Auto EQ function is also included in the app using the phone's microphone to adjust for a specific listening position.
Rather than look like a traditional black box, says Origin, the Deep Subs come wrapped in a woven cloth with a dark aluminum top and angled short dark aluminum legs to suspend the cabinet. They were designed by Origin's development team to provide a "unique, mid-century modern look that can fit into any decor."
Origin Acoustics products are available in Canada through Toronto-based Evolution Home Entertainment.
