Staples Canada has opened two more locations featuring the retailer's new retail experience as The Working and Learning Company: the first is in Etobicoke, ON by Sherway Gardens shopping centre and the second is in Bayers Lake, NS, making the first of its kind on the East Coast.
The doors will officially open at both locations on February 8, 2020. Both feature Spotlight, an auditorium-style event and community learning space, along with thousands of new products, expanded services, modern workspaces, and interactive displays. Both new stores include Solutionshop, an expanded services hub offering in-house marketing, shipping services, web design, print and tech services, and more.
"We are thrilled to bring the working and learning store to two dynamic new communities starting this February," says David Boone, CEO, Staples Canada. "We know Canadians from coast to coast rely on Staples Canada as their one-stop destination for educational and workspace essentials to achieve their goals. We've designed these new stores with community in mind to help Canadians find new ways to work, learn, and grow. We have big plans in store for 2020 and these new locations are just the beginning."
The Bayers Lake store, located at 215 Chain Lake Dr., will carry new lines exclusive to Staples Canada, and will feature the Spotlight Speaker Series within the community space, a space that hosts speakers, events, and workshops covering a wide selection of topics with local experts. Staples Canada partnered with local digital producer and strategist, Erin Trafford, who will be speaking at Spotlight at 11:00 a.m. on February 8 on storytelling and social influence in 2020.
Meanwhile, at the Sherway location, situated at 1750 The Queensway, will also include the Spotlight Speaker Series and new products. On opening day, executive coach and author Carolyn Dickinson and parenting expert Sandra Zinchermann will speak at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively. Staples will also be partnering with Microsoft to host Learn to Code Using Minecraft on February 9 at 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.
The new Working and Learning stores employ a more modern design and clear sightlines to draw the eye throughout the store. Customers are encouraged to interact with discovery areas to test and learn curated product solutions, including an audio bar, a paper wall with samples, and pen bar to test writing instruments.
The first 100 customers attending the grand openings in both locations will receive a Staples gift card valued up to $100 and customers will save 10% on most in-store purchases all day.
