Scosche has introduced its new FlyTunes Wireless Audio Transmitter, which can plug into any 3.5mm AUX output and pair with Bluetooth wireless headphones or other devices for listening wirelessly.
Ideal for use on airplanes to listen to seatback entertainment systems, or with fitness machines at the gym, the transmitter can pair with earbuds like Apple AirPods, Bluetooth headphones, portable Bluetooth speakers, or other devices. It can connect with up to two devices at once as well, so you and the person next to you can enjoy the same movie, for example (though you'd have to do so from a single screen). This could come in handy for kids in the backseat of a car as well, watching from a portable DVD player or tablet.
Travel-sized, FlyTunes works using a simple single- or dual-pairing process. The Bluetooth range is approximately 30 feet. It has two folding prongs to plug into a single- or dual-output, so it works with any model of aircraft. It also comes with a short AUX cord that allows you to plug into difficult to reach AUX output locations.
In addition to airplanes, as noted, it also works with fitness machines, as well as televisions, stereos, and portable gaming systems, such as the Nintendo Switch. It can also come in handy for listening wirelessly from non-Bluetooth devices that have a 3.5mm output jack, like an iPod Shuffle, or old-school cassette or CD player.
The FlyTunes' rechargeable battery provides up to eight hours of use per charge, and can be recharged mid-flight, along with AirPods, in the Scosche Charge case (sold separately).
The Scosche FlyTunes Wireless Audio Transmitter is available in black or white for US$40. The Charge Case is US$30 and has an 860mAh battery that can recharge wireless headphones up to six times, heart rate monitors or fitness trackers up to four times, and smart/sport watches up to 1.5 times.
