Samsung's Galaxy Fold foldable phone has finally been confirmed for the Canadian market: the device will arrive on December 6 and be available exclusively in Samsung Experience Stores in CF Sherway Gardens, CF Toronto Eaton Centre, Metropolis at Metrotown, West Edmonton Mall, and Yorkdale Shopping Centre.
Closed, it has a 4.58" screen from which you can access apps using one hand on the cover display. Unfold it using the hinging mechanism and it has a 7.3" Dynamic AMOLED Infinity Flex Display. Finished in Cosmo Black, the Galaxy Fold App Continuity feature allows intuitive, seamless app transitions between the phone's cover and the Infinity Flex main display, collaborating with Google to enable an ecosystem of apps that are simple and easy to use. A Multi-Active Window, meanwhile, allows users to easily multi-task across three open apps at once.
Every Galaxy Fold comes with exclusive access to Galaxy Fold Premier Service, including Fold Concierge and a screen replacement offer. Since there might be a slight learning curve in terms of how to use the device, Samsung has specially trained experts that new owners can reach out to 24/7 at 1-888-970-FOLD for personalized support.
Additional features include a 10MP selfie camera on the cover, 10MP and 8MP dual cameras on the front, and a rear triple camera system including 16MP ultra-wide camera, 12MP wide-angle camera, and 12MP telephoto camera. It runs on a 64-bit octa-core processor and Android 9 "Pie," has 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, and a 4,380mAh dual battery with fast charging capabilities. Connecting via USB Type-C with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC, it works with Samsung Pay. It has a capacitive fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, barometer, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor, Hall sensor, proximity sensor, and RGB light sensor.
In Canada, the Galaxy Fold will sell starting at $2,600. It measures 62.8 x 160.9 x 15.7mm thin when folded and 117.9 x 160.9 x 6.9mm unfolded and weighs 276 grams.
