Russound has added both the Tidal and Deezer as built-in native streaming services in its new MBX-AMP and MBX-PRE audio streamers.
"The new user adoption rate for streaming is around one-million new subscribers for streaming services per month," says Charlie Porritt, CEO for Russound. "So, we view it as very important to be able to provide our customers with popular streaming services like Tidal and Deezer as built-in native streaming services in our MBX products in order to tap into that growing market.
"In the first half of 2018 alone," he continues, "on-demand music and video streams totaled 403.4 billion, a growth of more than 42 per cent. Streaming has certainly become the preferred source for today's music listener. We see our new MBX-AMP and MBX-PRE being used in much different ways than our controllers have been used traditionally."
The MBX-AMP is a full-featured streaming audio player with a built-in amplifier, while the MBX-PRE is a preamp-only (non-amplified) version designed to be a streaming audio source for Russound's MCA-Series controllers, like the MCA-66 and MCA-88. They can also accept voice commands from Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Both work with the XTS Plus and MyRussound app, and offer one-button access to music.
Additional features include native support for Apple AirPlay and Google Chromecast, up to 32 streaming zones, and are IP controllable to work with third-party control systems. They also connect to a home network via Wi-Fi or wired
