Amazon has launched its Prime Video Store in Canada, offering Canadians a place to buy new release and blockbuster movies online through Primevideo.com and the Prime Video app.
Movies will be available from top U.S. and local movie studios, including Disney, Warner Bros., Sony, Paramount, Lionsgate, and Elevation. New releases including Jumanji: The Next Level, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Joker are available to watch now. New movies cost around $7 to rent in UHD quality or $25 to buy. Once rented, you have 30 days to watch a film and 48 hours to finish it from the time you begin. Older movies are around $5 to rent and $18 to buy.
Prime members will continue to be able to stream content, including movies and TV series, on Prime Video as part of their membership. This includes popular Amazon originals like Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Fleabag.
All Amazon customers can rent or buy titles in the Prime Video Store through primevideo.com and the Prime Video app on Smart TVs, Android mobile devices, game consoles, streaming media players including Amazon Fire TV, and select MVPDs.
"We've seen how much our customers enjoy the large selection of new release movies available to rent or buy on the Prime Video Store in the U.S., UK, Germany, and Japan, so we're delighted to roll this service out in France, Italy, Spain, Canada, and Australia today," says Mike Hopkins, Senior Vice President, Amazon Prime Video & Amazon Studios. "The Prime Video Store brings all Amazon customers the newest releases and blockbuster movies available to rent or buy from top U.S. and local studios, adding to the great range of entertainment already available through Prime Video with a Prime membership."
Customers can browse and view movies via the new ‘Store' tab on the navigation menu across web, Smart TVs, and Android. Previous rent and buy movies will be available to watch in the ‘My Stuff' tab on iOS.
