WiFi HiFi is saddened to report the passing of Robert "Bob" Allan Massey, a manufacturer'[s agent in the industry for more than 40 years. He passed away peacefully on March 4, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. He was 70 years old.
Born in Winnipeg, Bob worked in the consumer technology industry for 40 years, starting in retail at Western Sound, then forming his own agency, PMA Marketing. Bob joined forced with Archie Gagnon 27 years ago when they formed Armas Sales & Marketing. Armas has represented companies like Progressive Sales, Onkyo, Tru Tech Marketing, and Whalepods.
In addition to a passion for the tech industry, Bob was also a revered member of the Pine Ridge Golf Club, which will be honouring his memory by creating a "Bob Massey Scholarship" for the young staff employees. The Pine Ridge Members' Lounge will also be named the "Bob Massey Lounge."
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Michelle LaFrance, three stepsons Scott (Sara), Geoffrey (Courtney), and Chris (Rachelle Tuck) Berry; sister Susan (Fenton) Bloxham; two great-nephews Brooks and Cohen Bennington; great-niece Payton Bloxham; step-granddaughters Ashlyn, Kaitlyn, Brooklyn, and Harlow Berry; sisters-in-law Lynne (Alan) Innes, Pat (Darryl) Bodnarchuk, Monique (Bruce) MacLean, and Carole (Don) Pitre; as well as brothers-in-law, Leonard (Sharon) LaFrance, and Marc (Dorota) LaFrance. He was predeceased by his parents George and Belle-Marie (MacPherson) Massey; and brother-in-law Fenton (Susan) Bloxham.
"Bob was a class act who loved his life, his family, and his home away from home; Pine Ridge Golf Club," reads his official obituary. "It is hard to imagine a more popular or well thought of person. Bob was loved by all the members and staff of Pine Ridge. His personality was infectious, you just wanted to be in his company, and whether you were a member for 50 years or you worked there for five days, Bob made you feel like you belonged. He was the epitome of what it meant to be a member. Bob's presence at the Club made Pine Ridge a better place."
There will be a Celebration of Life at Pine Ridge Golf Club, sometime in May. Date to be confirmed.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a charitable donation to be made in Bob's name to the Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation, or any charity of your choosing.
