Focal Unveils Chora Bookshelf and Floorstanding Loudspeakers

Focal is showcasing its new Chora bookshelf and floorstanding loudspeaker lineup at both Rocky Mountain Audio Fest and CEDIA which are taking place concurrently in the U.S.

Made in France at Focal's specialist manufacturing facilities, Chora is a new generation of high-quality yet affordable loudspeakers, featuring unique technology and Focal's timeless design, says the company. Chora is available in three different models - the 826 3-way, 816 2.5-way and 806 bookshelf - and starting at US$899 for a pair of the 806 bookshelf loudspeakers (Canadian pricing and availability not yet available.)

As a successor to the Chorus line, Chora speakers boast midrange and bass speaker drivers that are made of an all-new cone made of Slatefiber, a new speaker driver material designed and manufactured by Focal in France.

Focal has introduced new materials that achieve even greater damping, rigidity and lightness, like thermoplastic polymer with non-woven recycled carbon fibers. With this exclusive and innovative cone, the sound reproduction of midrange frequencies is "perfectly balanced and rich, with minimal coloration and plenty of dynamics," says Focal.

The Chora line consists of the Chora 826 and Chora 816 floorstanding loudspeakers and the Chora 806 bookshelf loudspeaker. In addition to the Slatefiber speaker drivers, these sound solutions integrate a TNF Aluminum/Magnesium tweeter, another Focal signature.

Chora loudspeakers are available in black, light wood and dark wood finishes. To complete the range, more Chora sound solutions are due to be launched in 2020, with the focus on Home Cinema.
