Samsung Electronics has introduced a new line of curved Odyssey gaming monitors.
"The new Odyssey line-up showcases Samsung's continued commitment to industry-leading innovation in technology and design, enabling significantly better performance for gamers," said Pat Bugos, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Home Entertainment, Samsung Electronics Canada. "Our new curved gaming monitor portfolio has been reimagined to give gamers an entirely redesigned and immersive experience."
The line is currently comprised of three models: the Odyssey G9 with a 49-inch display, and the Odyssey G7, available in both 32- and 27-inch sizes. All of these feature QLED technology and "an extremely deep curvature." They're said to be the first ever to rate 1000R for curvature. Response time is rated at 1ms, with 240Hz Rapid Curve refresh. The monitors support Nvidia G-Sync and DisplayPort 1.4 Adaptive Sync.
The Odyssey G9 offers Dual Quad High Definition (DQHD): 5120x1440 pixels, in a 32:9 aspect ratio. Other specs include peak brightness of 1,000cd/m2, and HDR1000 VA for lifelike colors. The exterior is glossy white, with a glowing rear core that offers 52 colors and 5 lighting effects options.
The two Odyssey G7 monitors have the same fast response time and refresh rate. The G7's QLED screen has Quad-High Definition (QHD) resolution - 2560x1440, in a 16:9 aspect ratio - with HDR600 VA color and 600 cd/m2 peak brightness. It's packaged in a matte-black case with a color-changing rear core that can remain static or dim during gameplay, or change colors based on gamers' preferences. "Dynamic shapes and lighting" have been added to the front bezel.
Samsung Odyssey G7 and G9 monitors will be available globally starting in Q2.
