CES 2019: TCL Launches New TV and Soundbars

Today at CES in Las Vegas, Nevada, TCL introduced its newest home theater products, including a new high-end model and a new line of soundbars.

"TCL became a leader in Smart TV with number two market share in the USA," said Aaron Dew, Director of Product Development, TCL North America. "The growth in large screen was even more pronounced with TCL taking a top-3 position in the 55-inch and above category. As TCL continues to drive into increasingly larger screen sizes with the opening of the world's most advanced Gen 11 panel production facility, the TCL team must ensure that we are delivering world-class products with the performance levels that our users truly want in their family room."

TVs

TCL's newest entry in its top 6-Series is the 75R615, a 75-inch model.. It features 160 backlight Contrast Control Zones, iPQ Engine for precise color replication, HDR Pro Gamma for optimum HDR performance, and NBP Photon technology for expanded color gamut. The 75R615 is available now for pre-order on BestBuy.com for under US$1,800. Roll-out to "a broad range of retailers" is planned for the coming weeks.

The upcoming TCL 8-Series will offer 8K resolution and screen sizes of 75-inch and larger. Roku is also planning upgrades to its Quantum Contrast backlighting technology, based on Mini LEDs, taking the number of zones from the hundreds available today into the thousands "in the years ahead." TCL also plans to replace its proprietary NBP Photon screen technology with Quantum Dot, improving color space, color volume and brightness.

In the coming months, TCL's 5-Series and 6-Series sets in North America will receive an automatic update to Roku OS 9. New features include Spotify streaming audio support, "Free" Genre Voice Search, and compatibility with Dolby Vision HDR on Xbox One X and Xbox One S consoles.

Sound Bars

TCL is launching two new series of soundbars. Alto 5 (TS5000) features convenient setup and a 31.5-inch size intended for use with TVs 43-inch and larger. Alto 7 (TS7000) adds more connectivity and better audio performance, with a 36-inch width suited to TVs 55-inch and larger. Alto 5 (TS5010) and Alto 7 (TS7010) SKUs each include a wireless subwoofer.

TCL's soundbars are scheduled to be available in the US this spring.
