CES 2019: Harman Announces JBL Headphone Lines

At CES in Las Vegas, Nevada, Harman International has launched a wide range of new headhones, under its JBL brand.

Harman cites a FutureSource prediction, that by 2022 wireless models will account for 39% of all headphone revenue, or approximately $12.3 billion. JBL aims to stay ahead of this trend, with headphones aimed at most every market segment.

Wireless Headphones

The JBL Live Series includes five models, with sleek aluminum finishes and lightweight feel, for any "on-the-go" lifestyle.

The JBL Live 650 (US$199.95) is the flagship around-ear model, with active noise canceling. The around-ear JBL Live 500BT (US$149.95) and on-ear Live 400BT (US$99.95) include Ambient Aware, which lets users control the amount of background noise they let in from their surroudings, and TalkThru, which lowers music volume to allow conversation without removing the headphones. All three support Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

There are also two in-ear models, the JBL Live 200BT (US$69.95) and Live 100 (US$39.95). The latter is the only wired model included in the announcement.

"With a massive line of different devices that carry the best features we have to offer, this new generation of headphones still maintain an affordable price point across the board," said Michael Mauser, President, Lifestyle Audio Division at Harman.

The JBL Live Series will be available at major retailers and at JBL.com starting in the spring.

JBL Tune 120TWS are in-ear wireless headphones, offering Pure Bass Sound, voice calling and connection to Google Now or Siri, and a 12-hour charging case. They'll be available on JBL.com starting in the spring, for US$99.95, in a choice of six colors.

Athletic Headphones

JBL Reflect Flow are designed for fitness enthusiasts, with patented FreeBit ergonomics, IPX 7 waterproof rating, TalkThru and Ambient Aware, and easy connection to Google Now and Siri.

A new addition to the JBL Endurance line are the JBL Endurance Peak headphones. Designed for gym or outdoor use, they offer a combined 28 hours of playback time, IPX 7 waterproof rating, touch controls and PowerHook for secure fit. They're available now on JBL.com for US$119.95 in black, blue or red, joining the previous headphones in the Endurance line: Run, Sprint, Jump and Dive.

Also created by JBL, Under Armour True Wireless Flash headphones are the latter company's first "truly wireless" Bluetooth headphones. They take a waterproof in-ear approach, "designed for runners by runners." Sport Flex Fit keeps headphones secure, and UA Storm Proof technology imparts an IPX7 waterproof rating. TalkThru and AmbientAware technologies are built in.

Under Armour True Wireless Flash will are available now on JBL.com and UnderArmour.com, at US$169.95.

The Harman Showcase at CES 2019 is located at the Hard Rock Hotel.
