Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) has announced US availability of its Mate 10 Pro smartphone.
The Huawei Mate 10 Pro features a 6.0-inch QHD OLED display, a slim 4000mAh battery, and dual Leica Cameras with Summilux-H lenses, both with an aperture of f/1.6. Software includes a new EMUI 8.0 OS, based on Android 8.0.
Along with the launch, Huawei has announced a strategic collaboration with IMAX Corp. and Xerpi Corp. (for DTS audio), focused on developing AR/VR products and content, bringing IMAX immersive experiences to users.
Huawei also introduced actress Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) as its first Chief Experience Officer, tasked with helping "shape the company's brand experiences," and playing "an active role in listening to and providing ongoing ideas to inform how Huawei will bring the best experiences to its customers."
The Huawei Mate 10 Pro will be available in the US starting February 18, through major electronics retailer, including Best Buy, Amazon, Microsoft, Newegg and B&H. Pre-orders begin February 4. Unlocked, the GSM phone will sell for $799 USD. No details of Canadian availability were included in the release.
At the same time, the new Porsche Design Huawei Mate 10 will be available for $1,225 USD from the same retailers, and from Porsche Design Stores by the end of February. This version will feature a unique front and back cover design, entirely encased in "elegant yet robust" glass, in an exclusie Diamond Black color.
Huawei announced a partnership with Montblanc, to release a new leather case created exclusively for the Huawei Mate 10 Pro. The case is to be available later this month in China.
Huawei has also announced what it terms "the world's first hybrid smart home network solution." The Huawei WiFi Q2 series is termed "a true plug-and-play Wi-Fi system designed for the entire house. The system is said to be simple to set up, with automatic connection of users to the fastest hotspot and frequency, to ensure strong and reliable connectivity throughout the house.
Huawei's notes that its products and services are now available in more than 170 countries, and are used by a third of the world's population. The company has 15 R&D centers, located in the US, Germany, Sweden, Russia, India and China. Huawei Consumer Business Group is one of three business units, with products including smartphones, PCs and tablets, wearables and cloud services.
