Braven Reveals Major Expansion of Line at CES 2016

Braven is known for its rugged, high-performing, great-sounding portable speakers. And the company is introducing a number of new models and lines at CES, which kicked off today in Las Vegas.

First, are the new 105 and 405 Active Series models, which are portable and waterproof, and come in a number of colour options.

The "palm-sized" 105 can run for up to eight hours on a charge of its battery, and is, indeed, slim enough to fit in a pocket. Or, you can hang it on a bike or strap it to a backpack using the included carrying loop. It is IPX7 waterproof-rated.

As a mid-sized model, the 405 is geared at those looking to add music to their workout in the fitness studio, gym, or pool; or to use in the locker room or on the deck. Also IPX7-rated, it doubles as a portable backup battery, and can run for up to 12 hours. It features anti-slip silicone feet and a built-in kickstand.

Both models will come in seven colour options, and will be available in the second quarter. Stay tuned for Canadian pricing.

Braven says its new BRV-Bank Pro LE (Q1 2016) is the "world's first" ultra-rugged, smart modular backup battery. It's deemed a "more rugged" version of the already uber-rugged BRV-Bank, able to now withstand full submersion in water with its IPX7 rating. In addition to being able to charge your devices on the go via the two USB charging ports (1A and 2.4A), it comes with a built-in 300-lumen LED flashlight, and housed in aircraft-grade aluminum. The 6,000 mAh lithium-ion battery can charge most smartphones two or three times per charge. The included USB cable is nylon-braided; a lanyard is also included.

It is compatible with all of the accessories for the BRV-Pro, including the solar charging panel, multi-tool, GoPro-compatible action mount, and stacking plate, which allows users to stack multiple BRV-Bank batteries on top of each other for even more power.

The device is Bluetooth SMART enabled, and can be remotely controlled through Braven's proprietary app, allowing users to locate the battery bank, monitor its power levels, turn each charging port on or off, and activate the "Bear" and "Find Me" modes. "Bear Mode" turns on the smartphone's motion sensor, sending signals to the bank to sound an alarm and trigger the flashlight when your phone is moved, while the "Find Me" mode activates the universal distress signal by sending a visual Morse code for "S.O.S." using the flashlight.

The BRV-Blade LE rugged outdoor speaker (Q2) is built to "withstand the most extreme conditions," says Braven, allowing users to take it with them while they do everything from rafting to rock climbing, and four-wheeling.

It is, not surprising, durable, waterproof, and rugged, and comes with Bass Optimization and Boost Mode, the latter of which allows for boosting the sound so you can still hear whilw waves are crashing behind you or a loud engine is roaring. It comes with an aircraft-grade aluminum casing, shockproof design thanks to ABS construction, and tie-down bars made of military-grade glass-filled nylon.

Its 4,000 mAh power bank can charge your mobile devices on-the-go, and use the built-in mic to take hands-free calls. Bluetooth SMART technology allows users to remotely control speaker features, customize EQ settings, and more from the proprietary Braven app.

The BRV-XXL "party" speaker boasts a "tank-like design," says Braven, and is meant to provide surround sound during a bash being held either indoors or out. It can play back tunes for 14 hours, and charge your mobile devices through its 15,600 mAh battery,

Like the others, it is made of aircraft grade aluminum and ABS, able to withstand accidental falls, sand, dirt and dust, and water via an IPX 5 rating.

As the name implies, the XXL (Q1) is Braven's biggest speaker to date. It features one-touch connectivity with NFC technology and on-board controls to adjust bass, treble, volume, and skip tracks. There's also a 3.5mm microphone input for toasts and announcements, and an audio design with a subwoofer that fires sound from both sides of the speaker for an immersive listening experience.

It comes equipped with tie-down loops that easily secure it to any location, and a carry strap with a built-in bottle opener.

Braven products are distributed in Canada through Erikson Consumer.
