Belkin, the connected things division within the Belkin International and Foxconn Interconnect Technology (FIT) entity, is showcasing new products featuring fast charging in its booth at CES 2020, which kicks off tomorrow in Las Vegas, along with mobile power and screen protection accessories.
A range of GaN (Gallium Nitride) wall chargers, including the smallest 60W charger in the Belkin product portfolio, lead the new fast charging portfolio. The Screenforce screen protection family continues to grow, and several wireless charging products are also being introduced, among them, a 3-in-1 charger for Apple products.
The Boost Charge USB-C GaN wall chargers come in 30, 60, and 68-watt flavours and feature
GaN technology for efficient fast charging in smaller, more compact designs than traditional chargers. Belkin's new lineup of GaN wall chargers are designed to efficiently charge a wide range of devices, from smartphones to laptops. The 30-watt model can charge a MacBook Air and has a foldable plug for travel; the 60-watt can charge a MacBook Pro and is the smallest of its kind in the line-up; and the 68-watt has two USB-C ports with Intelligent Power Sharing to sense and direct the most efficient charge to the devices plugged in. It also has a foldable plug that makes it a great solution for travel.
All three are coming in April 2020 and will sell for US$35 to US$60 depending on the model.
The Boost Charge USB-C Power Bank comes in a 10K version that has an 18W USB-C output with Power Delivery and can fast charge an iPhone from 0-50% in 30 minutes along with a second device up to 12W using the USB-A port. The The 20K version, meanwhile, has 30W of charging power and provides up to 28 hours of extra battery life for a MacBook. It also can charge a second device up to 12W using the USB-A port and includes is a 2-foot USB-C to USB-C cable for fast charging the power bank itself. They will be available in March/April for US$40-US$70.
For the iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods, there's the Boost Charge 3-in-1 wireless charger (April; US$110) which can charge all three Apple devices simultaneously. It includes a charging puck for the Apple Watch, a pad for AirPods, and a fast wireless charging stand for the iPhone. It is compatible with most phone cases up to 3mm as well as the case for the AirPods Pro and has an LED light that clearly displays charging status.
Using the Boost Charge Wireless Charging Stand and Speaker (April; US$50) you can quickly recharge a mobile phone while still using it. Prop it up at multiple viewing angles and place it on your desk, night stand, or airplane tray table. A one-touch Bluetooth button makes it easy to connect and it can steadily charge your phone up to 10-watts for Qi-enabled devices.
For the home or office, the Boost Charge Dual Wireless Charging Pads 10W (March; US$50) can charge two smartphones at once, up to 10-watts. They can charge devices through cases up to 3mm thin and include a non-slip grip to secure the phone to the pad. It comes with an external power supply and a four-foot cable.
For the car, there's the Boost Charge Wireless Car Charger + Vent Mount 10W (March; US$50) which includes a single-hand placement feature and a smart button to open and close the arms automatically, so you can easily place and remove the phone from the vent mount. It also includes a CLA with two USB-A ports; one port to charge the vent mount using a USB-A to USB-C connection, and the second port to charge an additional device.
A special edition charger is also available in the Boost Charge Portable Wireless Charger + Stand 10W Special Edition (March; US$80), which consists of a 10,000mAh wireless charging power bank for charging on the go and a stand for charging at home or the office. When the stand is being used, the Qi-enabled phone can charge in multiple viewing angles. The included dual coils ensure consistent fast wireless charging in any angle.
In addition to charging products, Belkin will also he showcasing screen protection solutions. The Screenforce TrueClear Curve Screen Protection for the newest Apple Watches, including series 4 and 5 models, are made of tough plastic that includes a 3H coating and provides edge-to-edge coverage. They are water resistant and designed to preserve touch sensitivity and clarity and provide scratch protection for the watch's face. The products also come with an in-box Easy Align tray to assist in precise application. They will be available as early as February for US$30.
There's also a tempered glass option in the Screenforce line (February, US$40-US$45), which accommodates the latest iPads and iPad mini, including the iPad mini 5/4, 7th-generatino iPad, iPad Air 3, and 10.5" iPad pro. They are made of high-quality Japanese Asahi glass, which Belkin says preserves the touch sensitivity and clarity of the device screen. The screen protectors also provide added smudge resistance and scratch/scuff protection from incidental contact. They are compatible with the Apple Pencil and Apple cases, and come with an in-box Easy Align tray to assist in precise application.
