TOA Canada Corporation, manufacturer of commercial audio and intercom products, has announced the appointment of Mitsuhiro Omura to the position of President and CEO, effective January 3, 2017.
Omura comes to North America from TOA Corporation's Head office in Kobe, Japan. He brings with him 19 years of experience. He will be leaving his post as section manager of the International Sales Section where he handled sales teams for South America, India and South Korea.
Based out of New Jersey, Omura will be dividing his time between the U.S., Canada, and all of North & Central America. Rico Lucia, General Manager, and Ellie Sun, Controller, both based at TOA Canada Corporation, will now report to Omura.
Omura is taking over for Yasuyuki Takahashi, who will be returning to Japan to work with the International Business Division. Takahashi has worked within the North American market leading both the U.S. and Canadian offices for the past eight years.
Warren Strem (left) and Peter MacLean (right) will have expanded territories for TOA Canada going forward.
Meanwhile, TOA has also confirmed a realignment of its sales territories. Warren Strem's sales territory will now include the Northern Territories, including the Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut. He will also be responsible for British Columbia and Alberta. Strem joined the TOA team in early 2016 as Regional Sales Manager for BC and AB.
Manitoba and Saskatchewan will now be part of Peter MacLean's sales territory. Strem has been with the company for eight years, working within the Atlantic Canada region for the past five, and, prior to that, in Ontario.
Taylor, a 32-year veteran of TOA, will work closely with and mentor both Strem and MacLean in his final year at the company. Taylor plans to retire in late 2017.
"TOA Canada is constantly changing and growing, says Lucia. "2017 will be an exciting year with these territory changes, bringing new talent and ideas to the western part of Canada."
