Following the opening of Sonos' first standalone store this summer, high-end audio software and hardware company Devialet has opened its first concept store in New York City as well.
The store, which opened on November 17 and is located at 92 Greene St. In the SoHo district of Manhattan (interestingly, just a few steps away from the Sonos store, which is at 101 Greene St.), measures 2,200 square feet in space. While it is initially opening as a concept store location in time for the holidays, the plan is for the location to open permanently in 2017.
Inside, shoppers can experience Devialet products, as well as attend unique events and experiences. The company says shoppers will be able to listen to music as exactly as the artist recorded it" in the store, learn about Devialet-developed technologies in sound processing over the past decade (the company holds more than 100 patents), and experience the full Phantom collection, including the Gold Phantom and the full expert Pro line. Additionally, those interested can book a private listening in the Immersive Room, where they can watch and listen to a 5.5 Phantom immersive system.
Devialet designs and engineers all of its own hardware and software in France. The company is known for its Phantom, compact, spherical, self-contained powered speakers with multi-zone capability. Devialet's latest product, which will be on hand for demonstrations at the NYC store, is the Phantom | Berluti Cocoon, a connected speaker designed alongside Parisian shoemaker Berluti. Available in Berluti Venezia leather in the Tobacco bis shade, the gorgeous speaker, as the name implies, comes housed in a made-to-measure travel case. It will be available soo, and only in limited quantities.
Devialet products are distributed in Canada through Montreal-based Plurison. While this is Devialet's first standalone store in the U.S., the company already has five standalone stores opened in other parts of the world.
